San E, Jung San, was a famous underground rapper before he joined JYP Entertainment in 2010. His first appearance in the underground scene was in 2008 when he released his mixtape that contained a diss song towards Verbal Jint, one of the most influential rappers in Korea. Verbal Jint aknowledged the diss and offered San E to join him in his hip hop crew, Overclass. Afterwards, he released more mixtapes and got the nickname "Rap Genius". In 2010, he joined JYP Entertainment and release numbers of pop-ized hip hop songs that his fans disliked. Sure he gained new 'little girls' fanbase, but he lost a lot of his hardcore, hip hop-loving fans. In 2013, he left JYP and immediately released mixtape song called "Rap Circus" and went back to his style. Then he joined one of the most popular modern hip hop label, Brand New Music. Since then, he gained a lot of popularity in both the mainstream and the underground scene and placed first multiple times.
