sandraI have always been interested in Hip Hop since I was in middle school. It was mostly focused on breaking, because that's what most of my male friends did in their free time in middle school and high school.
That was basically my introduction to Hip Hop. I was also interested in J-Pop before being introduced to K-Pop thanks to listening to BoA and DBSK/TVXQ. Gradually, my two interests merged when I started taking Anthropology classes in college and I started incorporating my interests into my field studies. So I'm super excited to be able to incorporate my love of Korean music as well as my interest in the hip hop genre into this blog project. Korean Hip Hop artists I listen to: G-Dragon, Jay Park, A goal I have with this project is to specifically look into female participation in the Korean Hip Hop community. As the only female in this group blog, I wanted to make sure that this point is covered. |

Seung Jo (Daniel)I was born in Korea, but moved to the United States in 2002. At first, I only listened to American hip hop, such as 50 cent, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Tupac. When I was in 7th grade, I started making Korean friends for the first time and was gradually introduced to Korean music.
First Korean music I listened to was MC Mong. From there, my interest spread to ballad, dance, rock, and of course hip hop. My favorite music had always been Korean hip hop since then, and I listen to both mainstream and underground. I constantly look for new Korean hip hop, whether it be new or old, mainstream or underground. My favorite Korean hip hop artists are Drunken Tiger, Epik High, Double K, Dok2, CSP, Beenzino, G-Dragon, etc just to name a few. My goal in this project is to contribute what i know to the visitors to this blog. |
